(Historically: The Abundance of Wealth.) (This is the 102nd surah with 8 verses.
Traditionally it has been understood as describing people with the illness of greed, the amassing of wealth for its own sake, till he or she dies. The catastrophic end of this greed is then described as leading to hell fire. Again traditionally it is simply understood as a Surah instilling fear in the heart of people who are thought to be interested in pursuit of wealth.
Looking at the greater picture of Qur'an, and going by each and every letter and word of this great Book, with only the linguistic help of the scholarly work in grammar and lexicons, it seems that it in reality, it is addressing the entire humanity, to go collectively in the pursuit of knowledge without delay, as otherwise it will lead them into a state of putrefaction, thus dissolving their essence, which ultimately will cause them to have a lack of power, self confidence and a sense of security against all evils.) Surah 102: 1 ِأَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ The ones in the midst of you, who contend collectively for superiority in the pursuit of knowledge and the practice of eternal principles, would be unable to accomplish these goal without pursuing the truthful guidance. To the degree this applies, put your affairs into a sound and proper state, and strive continuously to acquaint yourself with the extraordinary abilities of successful behaviour from that foundation, until your end in a cemetery. Be neither easily defeated, and lethargic, and so incapacitated, nor delay the pursuit of the acquisition of knowledge. In order for your affairs to be in a wondrous state; be neither easily defeated, and lethargic, and so incapacitated, nor delay the pursuit of the acquisition of knowledge. Do not act lethargically so being easily defeated, and incapacitated in the pursuit of knowledge; because this pursuit of knowledge causes self confident protection and security from all evils, being the exceeding of due limits. Surah 102: 6 لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ Let not the attainment of knowledge become a hard and difficult affair; or else it may become like a putrefaction of your essence: like you are burning in a fire, consumed by your emotions. In order for your affairs to be in wondrous state; let not the acquisition of knowledge become a hard and difficult affair: else it becomes like a burning up of your essence. This will cause a lack of power, and so the ability to thoroughly execute the self confident protection and security from all evils, being the exceeding of due limits. In order for your affairs to be in an extraordinary state; and to be amongst those who lead a pleasant and easy state of life; all those who are lethargic and without a care, should from this point take action, to absolutely not be amongst those experiencing and suffering from what exceeds due limits or to be rude unpleasant or quarrelsome, to a vehement degree.
