Polygamy is allowed but it requires certain criteria to be fulfilled first. it is conditional. It is not a general rule. Concept of marriage in islam is about taking responsibilities and fulfilling rights. it is not about 'lust'. Quran does permit men, with resources, to marry a window with orphans. thats the condition. to father the orphans. after going through all the relevant verses about marriage, rights of husband, wife and children, orphans and widows its is abundantly clear that it is a BIG sacrifice on part of a man. it is a very noble act indeed.
